Supply the draft and ask for citations, quotations and propositions with their locations. Check the inventory against the draft so omitted footnotes and repeated references are not missed.
Retrieve the actual sources
Open the authoritative text for each reference and record the version, court or issuing body, date and stable locator. A failed search means not located in the sources checked, not proof that the authority does not exist.
Check quotation, meaning and status
Compare exact wording and surrounding context, including omissions and qualifiers. Verify procedural relevance and later treatment separately using suitable sources for the jurisdiction. Keep any unchecked dimension unresolved rather than green.
Correct the draft and retain a log
Have the responsible reviewer approve changes to propositions as well as references. Remove unsupported assertions or continue research; never replace a missing authority with a plausible citation. Recheck the final draft after edits.

A mistaken check confirms the quote because both discuss approval. The reviewer restores the exact wording and reassesses the proposition; this does not establish any legal rule.
Does locating the case complete the check?
No. Read the relevant passage and context, then separately investigate later treatment and jurisdictional relevance. A connector or successful search result does not establish those conclusions by itself.
